As you know, South Korea is a front runner in the race of the metaverse. Their ICT Ministry has pledged to invest $186.7 million dollar in metaverse. Now, they are in the news because of South Korea’s ethical rules for the metaverse.
Ethical Rules are a set of principles for the users of metervare to follow just like any physical society. This will enhance preservation of self-identity, safe enjoyment and create a sustainable metaverse.
This news blog post will highlight all the 8 South Korea’s ethical rules for the metaverse. Moreover, I will also highlight South Korea’s plan for the metaverse in its New Deal 2.0. At last, I will try to bring out concerts for participating in the metaverse
SOUTH KOREA AND THE METAVERSE
The Ministry of ICT, Science and Future Planning(MSIT) of South Korea is responsible for all the matters related to crypto, NFT, Metaverse, etc. In the beginning of this year, the South Korean government had announced that it will provide $186.7 million for development of metaverse.
In the month of July, 2022, this country has announced New Deal 2.0. In this deal, it plans to invest $6.6 trillion. This investment will go towards establishing a Metaverse Academy and Metaverse Labs.

SOUTH KOREA’S 3 VALUE FOR METAVERSE USERS
South Korea’s MSIT proposes 3 core values for the metaverse users. Based on these 3 values, the ethical rules for the metaverse will be based.
The 3 core values are

- Safe Enjoyment
- Sustainable Prosperity
8 SOUTH KOREA’S ETHICAL RULES FOR THE METAVERSE
The Ministry of ICT, Science and Future Planning(MSIT) of South Korea had proposed 8 ethical rules or principles for the metaverse. The 8 ethical rules/principles are listed below.
- Autonomy
- Authenticity
- Accountability
- Data Protection
- Fairness
- Inclusiveness
- Reciprocity
- Respect for Privacy
These 8 rules will be applied to different use cases of the metaverse. So, MSIt will gather feedback for relevant departments, experts, industries and civic organizations.
All the 8 ethical rules for the metaverse are just proposals. A final draft for these rules will be finalized by the end of 2022.
